Day 14: Rain

Well, I decided that I stayed in Tupelo long enough. Despite the fact it was pouring rain all day, I decided to give it a shot anyways. The morning was cold and I detoured to bike across town to visit a bike shop. Turns out the owner is out sick with something and the store was closed.

This is my bike all bagged up and rain ready!

All my panniers have trash bags inside them so that if water get's in, the contents still stay dry.

I didn't get onto the trace again until around 12:00-12:30 in the afternoon which was a late start. I started biking but the rain made it very difficult. The road was slippery which means I had to carefully control my speed and that made hills more difficult.

This was right before I got onto the trace, the rain was a bit lighter but it was still steady during this picture.

I made it to a campsite about 10 miles down the road, and I think I'm gonna just hang out here and wait today out. The next campsite is 40 miles down the road so I'm pretty confident that at this point I won't be able to make it before dark. Tomorrow will be warm and dry and I'll be able get a full day out of it.
